IPCN Board Spotlight: Dr. Scott Love

1. When and why did you decide to go into medicine as a career?
“I became interested in medicine while working with a family practitioner, Dr. Eshelman, while attending high school in Durham, North Carolina.  Dr. Eshelman was a very bright and caring physician who was involved in his community and was a member of the school board.”

2. Why did you choose IPCN for your practice and participate in its board?
“I feel that same drive to serve not just my patients, but also the larger WNC community. My family moved to Asheville when I was seven, and these mountains are my home. IPCN is dedicated to serving this population. We are driving cutting-edge solutions for population health by integrating community human service organizations with traditional medicine to provide for our families with great needs, looking at social determinants of health- housing, food insecurity, transportation, and access to high-quality medical care.

IPCN is striving to make us a healthier community, and we can do this by becoming a more interwoven community that supports all of our neighbors. IPCN is a non-profit clinically integrated network that is committed to helping area physicians navigate the complexities of today’s medical market, and ultimately reinvest revenues back into the network, providing these needed services to our WNC community.  I am honored to serve and be a small part of this organization.”

3. What is your favorite thing to do in WNC?
“We live in a breathtaking area- beautiful mountains, flowing rivers and streams, scenic drives, and endless trails to explore.  I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, hiking, trail running, mountain biking, fly fishing, paddle boarding, and skiing.  We are also blessed to have an amazing music, arts, food, and beer scene. So much to do- just not enough time.”
